Identifying useful project management practices: A mixed methodology approach

This paper describes a mixed methodological research approach for identifying practitioner perceptions of the most useful project management (PM) practices to improve performance. By perceived tools and techniques, as having potential increased contribution performance, practitioners organizations can select their priorities when improving PM practices. The involved programme thirty interviews with Project Management professionals in Portugal, followed by global survey. Completed questionnaires were received from 793 worldwide, covering 75 different countries. results showed that top twenty list techniques is composed very well-known widely used tools, such as: progress report; requirements analysis; meetings; risk identification; scope statement. cover overall life cycle initiation closing, but particular relevance given planning. areas knowledge, scope, time, risk, communication integration, assume high relevance, each at least three on list.
